GOLDENKEY LAS CRUCES N.M. PROFESSIONAL
All too often in courtrooms, only the defendants’ rights are considered. Of course, the rights of the accused are important and a dedicated and professional prosecutor respects and honors these rights, but the prosecutor is the voice for the victim and victims deserve justice. They deserve to have someone advocating for them. My administration will work hand-in-hand with our local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. We cannot afford to have confusion or discord between the officers on the street and the prosecutors in the courtroom. More and more, society is closely scrutinizing the actions of our men and women in law enforcement. Thus we must work even harder to earn the peoples’ trust and confidence. Our word must be our bond. I know that every day law enforcement strives to protect us all from violent criminals. As my skills grew and developed, I was promoted time and time again, handling nearly every type of case along the way until becoming chief deputy district attorney. These years of experience have given me invaluable experience and insight into what changes need to be made in order to achieve the very best result in every case, to protect each victim, and to see that truth and justice are always served. My administration will focus on victims and their rights.

Why are you the top candidate for the job?: I have proudly served as a state prosecutor for 16 years. I started as an assistant district attorney prosecuting misdemeanor cases in Magistrate Court. I will employ individuals of character and courage who provide the highest quality legal representation for the public, steadfastly protect the rights of crime victims, and conscientiously seek to improve the criminal justice system and strengthen our community.

My vision is to enhance the quality of life in our community, to be a leader in quality prosecution, to aggressively advocate the cause of justice and, above all, to make Doña Ana County a safer community for everyone.

Top three priorities if elected: To pursue truth and justice by employing the highest ethical standards in vigorously prosecuting the guilty, protecting the innocent, and preventing crime.
